Tech Angel Leaders

The Tech Angels are a student-run group at Wellington Girls’ College that aim to encourage and develop the use and integration of ICT into education and curriculum learning.

Here, you can find information about our history, current activities, and plans for the future. You can also find out about our staff and student mentoring, work with the Ministry of Education’s DigiOps programme, and also a showcase of work by current Tech Angels.

TECH HUI

On the 23rd May Wellington College held the ‘Regional Tech Support Hui’. This was an opportunity for all students involved in IT groups in schools to share what they have been doing, meet other students with similar interests and find out more about the IT industry.

Speakers this year included:

• Bill Day the managing director of Seaworks Ltd. A company that lays underwater cables, runs underwater robots and as well as working in the offshore Oil & Gas industry undertake marine management for movies for both Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson.

• Kelly Cheeseman a third year student at Victoria University in the new Digital Media Course

• Jeremy Burgesss a game programme working for Sidhe on the ‘Jackass’ computer game.

• Rachel Hydes a 3rd year student in Design at Massey University Wellington.

• Martin Langhoff a programmer at Catalyst IT working on Moodle.
